In 2004, Malone, Belton, Abel of Sheridan retained James Gores and Associates to provide the utility and site design for the new Thermopolis High School in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Mr. James Gores served as the Project Manager for the civil portion of the project.

The project entailed constructing a new high school on a site adjacent to the existing high school, then demolishing the existing high school structure to make space available for the parking lot to serve the new building. Time was critical because the transition from old to new building plus demolition of the old building had to take place over the summer.

Design: James Gores and Associates designed the site drainage, utilities infrastructure, two parking lots, the delivery truck entrance, and all concrete flatwork surrounding the building. The site is unusually flat making drainage design quite challenging. The drainage had to be integrated with the grading of the existing highway drainage.

Construction Monitoring: Our firm assisted in resolving minor field adjustments throughout construction. The construction was accomplished with no needed adjustments in grading. No change orders were required to complete the project as designed.
